2017 Design Trend: Butterflies

A very happy New Year to all our lovely readers. As we always do annually, we’d like to start 2017 off with a bang by introducing the top design trends for the new year. From fashion to interiors and beyond, we have a long list of everything that’s going to be hot this year. We will explore each bullet point on our list one-by-one to get a closer look at the potential behind each one.

To start, we’re delving into the beautiful world of butterflies. A major hit on the runway and interiors, butterflies are fluttering their way into 2017 and we welcome them gladly. We’re loving the surreal, whimsical symbolism the butterfly brings. Major brands (think Dior and Christian Lacroix)  have done an excellent job of taking the iconic insect and elevating it in ultra chic, contemporary ways. From photo-realistic wallpapers to embroidery, appliqué, and taxidermy, these examples show how easy it is to incorporate this 2017 trend into the wardrobe or home.
