Glamorous New Products

I admit that I love glamour and those who know me know that I’m drawn to all things glamorous like a moth to a flame. So I was particularly delighted to discover several new furniture and product lines that emphasize exquisite materials and workmanship along with alluring shapes and details.

Glittering metallic scales bring an Asian modern vibe to both the Koi Center Table and Koi Dining Table.

Reminiscent of the delicate metalwork of Rene Prou in France in the 1930’s the Allure Dining Table adds French Modern drama.

What is sexier than black lacquer mixed with the glint of gold metal? Answer: Nothing.

With a chunky metal back that reads like an oversize ladies cuff, the Mandy sofa is jewelry for your livingroom.

Is it architecture or is it furniture? We think it’s both. But what we really think is that it’s fabulous.

Carneros Inn Napa

The summer has flown by mostly with work so we decided to sneak off for a few days of R&R and headed to Napa.

Carneros-Vineyard-NapaWe stayed at the Carneros Inn, a lovely low-rise development that is part of the Plumpjack group of properties.  These include some pretty swanky locations including Aspen, St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands and Castello di Casole in Tuscany.

Carneros-Vineyard-Napa-1Carneros Inn occupies 27 acres centrally located between Napa and Sonoma. It is a short drive to the town of Napa as well as dozens of top-flight wineries. We booked a Vineyard Suite, a two bedroom, two bath unit separated by a spacious outdoor terrace and overlooking the surrounding countryside and vineyards. The architectural style of the Carneros Inn is what I call “industrial farmhouse” and the buildings have a sort of modern barn appearance. The landscape is Mediterranean in flavor and one can meander long paths dotted with Italian Cypress, olive trees, and rosemary tumbling over rustic stone walls.

Carneros-Vineyard-Napa-2Our suite was stylishly furnished with a purple mohair sectional sofa, Saarinen table and tulip chairs, taupe wool carpets, a Corbusier chaise done in hide and modern lighting.

Rafael de Cardenas

Rafael-de-Cardenas-2

I hate to be a namedropper, but I’m loving the London apartment designed by Rafael de Cardenas in this month’s issue of Architectual Digest.

Rafael-de-Cardenas-3

He uses many of my favorite designers in the many vintage and custom pieces showcased. From the very chic Pierre Cardin table in the entry hall to the Herve van der Straeten stacked console paired with vintage Gilbert Rohde chairs and a Tommi Parzinger daybed (I’m proud to say I own one),  it’s always about the mix.

Rafael-de-Cardenas-1The gorgeous Karl Springer parchment dining table paired with vintage Grosfield House chairs shows why integrating choice vintage pieces in a space delivers a very couture interior indeed.
