Inner Zen

It seems I’m feeling very zen these days. That must be why I’m loving the paired down, somewhat austere aesthetic which reminds me of quietly spiritual places.

Inner Zen On Madison 1Such is the case with the severe and sculptural gardens by Fernando Caruncho in this month’s issue of Architectural Digest.

Inner Zen On Madison 1I adore the use of carefully raked gravel surfaces punctuated by the simple but strong geometric shapes of the fountain and staircases. Inside the house, Caruncho continues the spare, sculptural look in the lime mortar and Russian pine curved staircase.
