Fur Fetish

Ever since Diana Vreeland wrapped 60’s supermodel Verushka in fur and photographed her against the red rocks of the Arizona desert I have adored fur. And when Elizabeth Taylor, wearing nothing but Blackgama mink, asked us “What becomes a legend most”, we knew fur was synonymous with swank.

This season, fur is all over the runways and features prominently in home decor. Whether it’s real, faux, or fantasy fur, we’re fanatical for it! I know fur is a tad bit controversial, but for sheer glamour and luxe, fur is a design element that can take your room from blah to bombshell.

The latest fur trend includes all things animal: rich leathers (especially in glitzy metallics) and exotic skins (python or ostrich) that add panache and texture to a room. Use fur or skins in unexpected places like a hallway, breakfast room or bath, and try unexpected colors for a bold twist.

On Madison has put together some of our favorite looks with fur and leather, ranging from classic to bold, and glamorous to kitschy. We can hardly wait for winter.
